There’s something magical about seeing a place from the back of a horse, and on a recent adventure, we experienced that magic firsthand. Picture this: the sun is beginning its slow descent, casting warm hues over the Costa Rican jungle. We saddle up, excitement buzzing through the air, ready to embark on an unforgettable journey, horseback riding in Costa Rica from the jungle paths to beaches.
The trail begins beneath the canopy of the jungle. The soft rustling of leaves and distant calls of howler monkeys accompany each step of our horses. The guides, warm and knowledgeable, share stories about the local wildlife, pointing out hidden gems we would have otherwise missed. Their love for the land and the animals shines through in every interaction, making us feel completely at ease.
As we ride, it’s impossible not to notice the horses themselves — strong, gentle, and incredibly well cared for. It’s clear they are loved. Our guides explain how each horse is paired with riders based on their comfort and experience level, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride for everyone.
The trail opens up to the beach just as the sun begins to dip toward the horizon. The golden light reflects off the waves, painting a scene so stunning it feels like stepping into a postcard. We ride along the shore, the horses’ hooves leaving soft imprints in the sand, the salty breeze against our faces. This is pura vida at its finest.
As the day closes, we dismount and watch the final moments of sunset from the beach, feeling grateful for the experience and connected to nature in a way that only horseback riding can provide.
